As we get ready to launch small pool season in Dearborn, SOP members are diligently preparing their pools to be opened.  Every year, we have an open pool clean-up at each small pool to help clean the pool and otherwise prep it for opening day.  This is a great way to meet your neighbors and support the small pools.

First Week of Floatie Nights - A Success!

This week marked the first of many great Floatie Nights at Dearborn's Small Pools.  Ten Eyck held its first Floatie Night on Tuesday, June 26th and Summer Stephens held two Floatie Nights, on Tuesday June 26th and Thursday, June 28th.  Both pools were packed, with Ten Eyck reporting over 70 people in attendance!  Join in on another Floatie Night near you.  It costs just $5 per pool for the entire summer. Check out our events page for more details.

Beat the Heat - Extended Pool Hours

Dearborn is sizzling right now, with temperatures hovering around the 100 degree mark.  What can you do to get cool?  Well, the City of Dearborn has extended the hours of Summer Stephens, Lapeer, and Ford Woods pools until 8:00 pm from Friday June 29th to Sunday July 1st.  These pools typically close at 6:00pm every day.  While SOP does our best to provide Floatie Nights and evening options for the pools, it costs $100 per hour for these rentals.

So, take advantage of the extended hours this weekend and jump right in!

What Slogan Would You Put on the Dearborn Sign?

A few days ago, SOP co-founder Mark Lane was driving into Livonia and he passed a sign welcoming him into the city.  The slogan on the sign gave him pause and he promptly turned his car around (legally), stopped on the side of the road, and took a picture.

The saying spoke to him.  Like any good social media user, Mark posted the picture on Facebook and asked the question "what do you think Dearborn's sign should say?"

Signs like this one do more than let the driver know they have entered the city limits.  It speaks to the values and vision of the city you are visiting.  It tells you where the city has been and where it is going all in just a few words and the short seconds it takes to pass.  As we have said before, SOP is more than just about keeping a place to swim in Dearborn.  We are about preserving the value and unique treasures of the City of Dearborn including our neighborhoods and connections that make us a family.

So, what do you think should be on the City of Dearborn sign, welcoming visitors and perhaps future residents to our great city?  Comment on this post with your ideas and we will put some of our favorites on the sign below.
